The J. Paul Getty Museum at the Getty Center in Los Angeles houses European paintings, drawings, sculpture, illuminated manuscripts, decorative arts, and photography from its beginnings to the present, gathered internationally.

Visiting information for our two Los Angeles locations: the Getty Center in Brentwood off the 405 and Getty Villa in Pacific Palisades off Pacific Coast Highway. Admission to both sites is always free.

The collection of the J. Paul Getty Museum comprises Greek, Roman, and Etruscan art from the Neolithic to Late Antiquity; European art from the Middle Ages to the early twentieth century; and international photography from its inception to the present day.

J. Paul Getty started acquiring antiquities in Rome in 1939 and subsequently built an important collection concentrating on Greek and Roman marble statues and reliefs, bronze statuettes, and mosaics.

The J. Paul Getty Museum’s Department of Photographs collects and curates exhibitions of photographs from the early 19th century through today.
