To start off I was using a 3.5mm jack to dual ts jack cable, I connected the monitors (JBL lsr305) directly into my onboard soundcard. The buzzing and whining started instantly as I turned my PC on.

May 30, 2015 · That would work, as you just need something for amplification. After that it depends on what kind of inputs are on the back of that receiver / amplifier. Usually they are RCA so you just need a 3.5mm to RCA converter. The 3.5mm would go to the PC output, the RCAs to the receiver. Usually I can find these adapter locally for a few dollars.

In Windows 10 the control is integrated right into the icon's fly-out - look for an "arrow shape" (chevron) at the top to the side of the audio source listed and you should get a menu which allows you to choose a different output source.

The other speakers would require a 5 channel amp. If the sub is also passive you would need a 6 channel amp. What this does is synchronize the game's frame rate with the monitor's base frame rate (or frequency). Most monitors these days have a vertical frequency of ~60 Hz.
