I put self-stick, industrial-strength Velcro tape on top of the stands and on the bottom of my speakers. You can pick up the stand by the speaker, and nothing moves.

I made a perfect custom fit pair for $200. My simple speaker stands weigh it at about twenty pounds each without the speaker and are exactly what I wanted.
