Salamiyah or Salamieh ( Arabic: سلمية Salamieh) is a city and district in western Syria, in the Hama Governorate. It is located 33 kilometres (21 miles) southeast of Hama, 45 kilometres (28 miles) northeast of Homs.

Salamieh was known at the Assyrian and Babylonian time around 3500 BC. Sumerians dwelled in it around 3000 BC. and It was known by Amorian around 2400 BC. Arameans lived in Salamieh around 1500 BC and then the Nabatean around 500 BC. Salamieh is the second largest city in the governorate of Hama.

Whatever the case, Salamiyah is one of the most ancient cities in Syria. Shemimis Castle, a castle located 5 km northwest of the city, is a testament to the city’s age.
