Sep 25, 2006 · From a programming perspective, Pinyinput is about as simple as it gets. It's far simpler to just replace a vowel with vowel+tone than it is to have to worry about which characters map to which pinyin etc. Pinyinput was never designed to be a fully-fledged Chinese IME, just something that fills a small gap in the Chinese IME market.

Also, the 'preview popup' (for lack of a better word) appears quite far from my cursor location, which is a bit annoying... Finally, Pinyinput seems to have installed an extra US English keyboard layout.
