Mortiis is an electronic band from Notodden, Norway fronted by Håvard Ellefsen, who is also known as the namesake of the band. The name is a misspelling of the word "mortis", which is the pronunciation used by the band.

Mortiis was formerly the bassist and primary lyricist for Emperor in the early '90s. He formed this band the day after he parted ways with Emperor because he wasn't into black metal anymore.

Disenfranchised with the brutality and hypocrisy of the record industry, Mortiis did not release a new album until 2010, when the band self-released the album Perfectly Defect – as a limited edition CD, and as a free download through their own website.

Mortiis plays synthesizer on a track of the album "Necrose Evangelicum" (1995) of the Swedish industrial band Brighter Death Now. Used to operate the zine Zombie Anal Sex Terror , first issue released in 1990.
