The Blue squad, formerly known as the Wildcat Squad in the 80s, [1] consists of at least 12 members (6 females and 6 males), not including alternates, who compete for the National Championship, and cheer for football and men's basketball. Members receive a scholarship up to in-state tuition at the University of Kentucky.

The Cats scored a 93.1 in the finals to climb into second, but South Florida scored a 93.4 to win. Kentucky, which has won 24 national championships in program history, more than any other school in the history of the competition.

The Wildcats are composed of 25 varsity teams that compete nationally—23 in NCAA -recognized sports, plus the cheerleading squad and dance team. The nickname "Wildcats" became synonymous with UK shortly after a 6–2 football road victory over Illinois on October 9, 1909.
