Brownsville-Haywood County Parks and Recreation maintains all city and county public property used for recreation such as East Side Complex, Haywood Softball Complex, the public swimming pool, LZ Hurley Memorial Stadium and others.

The Haywood County Highway Department is responsible for maintaining 532 miles of roads in the county and 111 bridges. The department’s shop also provides maintenance services on other county vehicles and equipment. Its annual budget is about $3.5 million, 70 percent of which comes from state funds.
