Dec 3, 2008 · Cast iron can be welded. Some varieties are not too difficult to weld, but it takes alot of preperation and care to do it right. You can make "bubble gum" repairs using a nickel rod in a stick welder. I've used this to repair non-critical castings. To properly weld cast iron takes more skill and knowledge than I have.

And brazing cast iron is no joy, either. 2. Use the original, epoxied back together as a pattern to cast a new one.

Nov 25, 2014 · Cast iron is not usually used in suspension parts as it much to brittle. Most definitely steel of some variety, most suspension parts I've messed with can be heated red, bent, welded, cut and rewelded with little problem.
