Lake Bogoria (formerly Lake Hannington) is a saline, alkaline lake that lies in a volcanic region in a half-graben basin south of Lake Baringo, Kenya, a little north of the equator.

Lake Bogoria National Reserve is in the Great Rift Valley, Kenya, covering Lake Bogoria and the land immediately surrounding the lake. It is administered by the Kenya Wildlife Service. [1]

With its wild and barren shores, plus rich and colourful birdlife, Lake Bogoria is a reserve that few have visited yet many have experienced through amazing photographs. You can witness up close this reserve of steaming hot springs, erupting geysers and seas of flamingoes.

It is the seat of the gmina (administrative district) called Gmina Bogoria. It lies approximately 12 kilometres (7 mi) north-east of Staszów and 53 km (33 mi) south-east of the regional capital Kielce. [5] Bogoria belongs to historic Lesser Poland.

Lake Bogoria is a shallow saline lake within the Great Rift Valley lying north of the equator famously known for its hot springs, geysers and huge amounts of blue-green algae attract hundreds of lesser flamingos on the lake.
