I'm considering adding a BNC connector to my Yaesu VR-5000.
Dec 28, 2024 · That being the case, I'm considering adding a BNC female connector to the radio, wiring it to the existing SO-239's internal connections using either RG-174 or RG-316 coax. It would be wired in parallel with the SO-239, so as long as an antenna isn't connected to the existing input, impedance mismatch shouldn't be an issue for the new connector ...
N-Type or BNC? - RadioReference.com Forums
Dec 6, 2024 · While BNC is easier, I have personally seen BCS "fail in place" 2 or 3 times. All of these were resolved by simply disconnecting and then reconnecting the BNC connector. It looks like the the center connector loses connection, which I think could be it oxidizing over a long time or maybe it moves slightly inside the connector.
SMA vs BNC - RadioReference.com Forums
May 7, 2011 · And with an SMA male to BNC female adaptor screwed into the handheld's SMA jack, it seems even more fragile as the adaptor is a lever arm that increases the stress on the connector on the scanner. SMA has better performance, but without sophisticated test instruments looking at 1GHz range and above, you won't see the difference in practice.

Feb 10, 2024 · Loosen the large nut on the back of the BNC connector and put a drop of blue locktite on the threads on the back of the connector. Do not, I repeat Do not use red locktite. Blue locktite is removable, red locktite is permanent, and I do mean permanent. B.S.

Jul 15, 2012 · Order a clamp on male BNC connector to fit either LMR-240 or RG-8x. The crimping tool is way too expensive for a one time use. There should be may places in Canada to get one from or you can just try TESSCO. Good luck
Loose BNC Connectors - RadioReference.com Forums
Apr 20, 2017 · BNC and N connectors come in two varieties - 50 ohm and 75 ohm. Externally they appear identical, but the pin diameters are different. The 75 ohm ones are smaller. Thus, a 75 ohm male connector will fit a 50 ohm female connector, but may seem loose. I don't order from Amazon because they mostly don't specify the impedance of the connectors.

Should I Go With SMA or BNC Antenna Connectors?
Aug 17, 2018 · If you plan on switching antennas regularly, BNC is much better. SMA requires multiple turns of the connector parts to connect and disconnect, while BNC is a 1/4-turn of the locking ring and the actual connector goes straight in and out. So it's faster to switch, and less wear on the connectors.
RG8X with Compression BNC... - RadioReference.com Forums
Jan 9, 2010 · I have a question that I've searched and searched for to no avail (both here and on google). I have some premium RG8X coax with a stranded conductor that I want to mate with a compression BNC connector made for RG59. The problem is the center conductor appears to large (in diameter) to mate internally with the BNC connector's center pin.
Twist On BNC Coax Connector: How To Install Help Req., Please
Aug 25, 2019 · The coax at the receiver presently has no connector. Do I have to find a crimp (per suggestions) rather than a twist on, or can I simply run the center conductor and braid into one of those red/black connectors that have a bnc on one end. The other end is not a coax type of connector; it' simply a screw in for the center connector (red)
