Just in the last month in my world of buying and selling, I've interacted with many different Sansui collectors and fans young and old that are either first discovering this company or rediscovering it.

Jan 1, 2025 · My two cents would be to end the database in 2000 with the last well built and intentional Sansui's, the Alpha's. The final model AU-α607 MOS Limited which ended production in May 2000 (there is an anomaly in the database of August 2001, but it is probably a mistake).

Oct 26, 2024 · Sound-wise: The AU-20000 was an achievement in its day. But I rarely see people in this forum say the AU 20000 is the best sounding Sansui integrated who have heard a lot of Amps. Their later high-end amps are more refined in design, and their earlier products had that "Sansui" sound which was achievable with relatively low wattage.

Dec 31, 2024 · So, in amongst a whole pile of audio equipment in a shed that I acquired was a Sansui 1000A. I thoroughly cleaned it, deoxit-ed it, etc. It looks great and will play for about 10 min before building a hum (seemingly on the right channel?) and then blowing the fuse. The unit has not been (to my knowledge) restored/recapped etc.

Nov 3, 2002 · Sansui was a international stereo company (not domestic so much), with stereo patents, had a bunch of internal company problems and didn't change with the times. Like they didn't get into the 'video' concept, therefore had 'no patents' in video, vrs audio, which really hurt them cause video hit it so big.

Aug 11, 2007 · It was Sansui’s TOTL receiver for approximately a year. Production of the 8080 and 9090 began in August ’75. The 881/9010 is a good mid power receiver with some worthy features. It’s a shame that we had to wait for the 9090 to see the return of the wood covered cabinets. - Pete
