The BMP-2 actually has a two-plane stabilizer so the ZBD-05 isn't advantaged in this regard. Regarding APFSDS, I checked the wiki just now and it looks like 25 mm APFSDS starts at 9.0 and 30 mm APFSDS starts at 9.3, so perhaps the ZBD-05 wouldn't need it, but I was thinking of ways to compensate for the fact that it's a giant land target ...

Sep 26, 2021 · The ZBD-05 supposedly can make 30kph in water. If you account for currents, we're probably looking at less than 25, but let's take 25 for ease. Thats over 7 hours of non-stop bopping up and down in the sea, the dismounts in the back not being able to stretch their legs or do anything, in a tin can.

Oct 3, 2020 · The ZBD-05 seems to be much closer to the EFV in capabilities compared to the ACV. Did the requirements change or why didn't USMC build something like that? How significant is the difference between a tracked and wheeled vehicle when landing on a beach?

Dec 1, 2020 · Amphibious Assault Vehicles like the cancelled American EFV and the Chinese ZBD-05 were designed to be very quick on water compared to what they were meant to replace on top of being able to fight from sea on approach. At the same time, LCACs can be used to deliver non-amphibious AFVs in quantity quickly which most major armed forces possess.
