The XSR900 is the "better" bike, the Z900rs is the "traditional" bike. Neither are bad, but they aren't really direct comparisons. XSR is a modern bike with classic cues, not a modern classic. I feel like the XSR900 has plenty of power below 5k.... but it REALLY wakes up above that.

Mar 5, 2021 · The XSR900 is about 430 lb with 105hp and 55 tq. The XSR700 is about 410 lb weight with 65 hp and 45 tq. Weight difference is a wash, but the horsepower difference is significant. Honestly I think either of these would be great but IMO you'll regret not going with the XSR900. Especially since you're coming from a 600 already.

I guess everything is relative, and since my very first motorcycle encounters involved a mid-nineties 300cc two stroke dirt bike, the CP3 has always struck me as positively docile below 6K rpm (even in comparison to my 650cc single cylinder dual sports and the handful of 4 cylinder super sports I've ridden).

Feb 20, 2024 · Not a problem, and thank you! The SC Project exhaust is the 21-23 MT-09 fit. It is the same engine and frame as the XSR900, so it's a direct fit. The only difference between the body of the MT-09 and the XSR900 is that the swingarm for the XSR is the Tracers. Other than that, the mounting for the exhaust is the same between the MT09 and XSR.

The time and resources to develop the CP3 engine and chassis (MT09, XSR900 and Tracer 9) have already been spent, so slapping on some ”different plastics” is no big deal for Yamaha. Makes sense to develop existing platforms instead of making new ones with potential issues. Bike looks good, very good!

May 2, 2023 · My heart says triumph but XSR900 is somewhat better looking (basically has the single motodemic lights already, which I'd prolly put on my striple - I don't like the bug lights), and has all the features built in (quick shifter, cruise control, brembo brakes, etc.)..
