This trail provides access to the top of Vulcan Peak (4,655 Feet), an old fire lookout site on the southwest edge of the Kalmiopsis Wilderness. A magnificent view rewards the traveler. To look down into Vulcan Lake, you must walk along the ridge off the trail, so be careful.
