A VPN solution in general is going to be fairly easily detected by anything that does stateful packet inspection, as you hinted. The forceful disconnection could be due to traffic analysis methods looking at the https connection of stunnel and going "wait a minute, standard HTTP request/response connections aren't nearly that chatty!"

And the VPN server should forward these packets to the internet correctly. If the VPN server doesn't help on forwarding the internet traffic, you will encounter this issue.

Jul 10, 2021 · All traffic should be going over the VPN. From what I understand, the UDM Pro should allow the two networks (the LAN and the VPN) to talk to each other by default. I haven't set up any custom firewall rules that should interfere with this. What's also interesting is that DNS resolution seems to be working.
