The Tropiduridae are a family of iguanid lizards. [1] The family is sometimes considered a subfamily, Tropidurinae. The subfamily is native to South America, including the islands of Trinidad and the Galápagos.

Tropidurids in­habit a wide range of habi­tats, in­clud­ing low­land rain forests, sa­van­nahs, deserts, and high moun­tain grass­lands above tree line. Some live in rocks, oth­ers in sand; still oth­ers are ter­res­trial or ar­bo­real.
