This is a dual layer formulation and was considered one of TDK's best type II tapes made pre 1992.The "X" in the name infers a finer particle (extra fine super avilyn particles) used in making the tape formulation.

Jan 19, 2013 · I'd have to go with the TDK SA, although the Maxells are good too. The case and mechanisms of the TDKs were just so reliable and perfectly moulded. My tape of preference was the ADX (a type I) as it simply sounded better than everything except an MAX/G.
