The T95 was an American prototype medium tank developed from 1955 to 1959. These tanks used many advanced or unusual features, such as siliceous-cored armor, new transmissions, and OPTAR fire-control systems.

Equipped with a 90 mm smoothbore cannon capable of firing APFSDS, this tank is the first tank in the American tree that uses the ammunition type. Without some of the new tools found on other vehicles such as a stabilizer, laser rangefinder or thermal vision, one might assume the T95E1 is inferior to its competition.

Oct 18, 2022 · It sacrifices mobility, reload and a stabilizer for a sabot round, a bit of trolly armorand turret rotation. You could make it work but honestly, you're better off with the AOS at that point. Its APDS does the job and the stabilizer allows it to accurately fire on the move.

After work began on the FV4201 Chieftain in the early 1950s, efforts were made to make the armaments of the FV4201 Chieftain and the American T95 tanks (including their turrets) interchangeable. Eventually, however, the T95 project was cancelled due to technical limitations, and the compatibility studies were not pursued further.
