Mar 18, 2009 · The original STEN MkIII's were 9mm Luger, open bolt, blow-back operated, select fire "Machine Carbines". They were incredibly cheap to make, easy to operate and maintain, and they can spray a lot of bullets. Thompson's were too expensive and time consuming to build, so this was the commonwealth alternative.

May 14, 2009 · They used 1/8 inch rivets to help retain the front and rear barrel supports for the MkIII Sten. Like you said, they were soldered in.

May 12, 2010 · I'd go with MK2 since it was supposed to be the most expensive one made. The MK V is cool to. Those would be my choices. MK 2 is better since you can replace the barrel. Pistol route if I was going to build one but the cost to build is kinda expensive. Many better options for 9mm but the fun part is building something I guess.
