The Student Teacher Achievement Recognition (STAR) program honors Georgia’s highest-achieving high school seniors and the teachers most instrumental in their academic development. Since its creation in 1958 by the Georgia Chamber of Commerce, the STAR program has honored more than 29,000 students.

STAR Teachers move up in the competition with their STAR Students. Teacher Guidelines & Qualifications The STAR Teacher is selected by the declared high school STAR Student for having made the most significant contribution to the STAR Student’s scholastic development.

Mahajan received the $2,500 SouthState Bank Scholarship. Julia Rachkovskiy, center, a computer science teacher, won the $2,500 SouthState Bank Award for the state runner-up STAR teacher, and the $500 Mozelle Christian Award.

In addition to the Region Winners, all STAR Students and STAR Teachers are invited to attend the state banquet, be recognized and receive a special memento. Local sponsors and school contacts will receive banquet ticket information.

Earning designation as a PAGE STAR (Student Teacher Achievement Recognition) Teacher is one of the most anticipated awards at Georgia high schools. STAR Students throughout the state choose their STAR Teachers — educators whom the students consider most instrumental in their academic development — annually as part of the program.
