1. SATA 3 SSD DOES WORK on SATA 1 boards, with limited speeds. 2. Install/Restore went a breeze due to AOMEI Backupper. 3. The Speeds are capped at 128/MB/S irrespective of what bench i use. So, SATA 1, 1.5Gb standard is practically only 128 for my laptop/chipset. (I was expecting atleast 180 MBPS if we divide 1500 by 8.) 4. SSDs do run hot.

All suggested that I replace the factory build which was something like (approx. can't remember exactly) 250 watts/300 watts max. continues.

Jul 25, 2012 · I recently found out my notebook (HP 8510w) hard drive is operating in SATA-1 mode when both it (Seagate ST9200420AS) and the chipset (ICH8M) support SATA-2. In my search for a solution I have come across discussion of AHCI, but as far as I can tell this is enabled. In the BIOS SATA Native Mode is enabled, which I think is necessary to enable it.

Mar 18, 2002 · Now the through put of SATA 1,2,3 is higher, and bursts of data that are in the drives cache can move quicker for that 1 second, it's just going to backup waiting for the drive to spin somemore to get the data. With SSD's the newer SATA protocols will become more important as solid state memory is going to be faster than spinning media.

Dec 29, 2012 · According to some docs, the 850 has the CERC SATA 2s, which is a low-end software RAID solution embedded in the motherboard - tied to the onboard SATA ports. Assuming that is the controller, you should have a CTRL-A.
SSD boots fine off SATA-0, but if a HDD is added to SATA-1, no boot
Mar 26, 2013 · If I have the SSD on SATA-0, nothing on SATA-1 and a couple of DVD drives on SATA-2 and SATA-3, system boots fine. If I add the blanked HDD on SATA-1, the system doesn't boot. Just black screen and shuts down with a short press of the power button.
