Sep 20, 2018 · Its interesting that from genuine sources it says RMS Aquitania's exterior design was loosely based on RMS Olympic (Titanic's elder sistership.) Years later Cunard made a modern version of Aquitania which turned out to be RMS Queen Mary and again Cunard used QM's design onto Queen Elizabeth but a much more modern version than Mary.

Feb 11, 2022 · QE2's service speed, like her 2 predecessors, was designed to be 28.5 knots exactly. She could go 30 knots+ to allow for contingencies. This remained the same after re-enginging because the crossing time was unchanged in 1986, but with increased redundancy (she could maintain that with at least one engine offline for maintenance).

« Reply #2 on: Jun 13, 2017, 05:46 PM » I have always thought that the gas turbine exhausts give QM2 a bit of a look like the Holland America ships. When she was built, I was a bit surprised to see those exhausts located where they are.

Jun 15, 2024 · in terms of any delays QM2 left for New York on time yesterday with Queen Anne following her down Southampton Water on a beautiful evening looking at Solent Ships webcam footage. It is interesting to see the two ships in one shot as QA is so angular compared to QM2 - which was accused of the same thing in 2004 compared to the truly curvy QE2!

Feb 26, 2009 · Thought that as QM2 has a section about her Funnel we definitely need one for The QE2's great funnel - and I've added the Whistle too, as I am finding it difficult to believe we may not ever hear this in real life - ever again...
