Oatey® Purple Primer is an NSF-listed, aggressive primer for use on all schedules and classes of PVC and CPVC pipe and fittings. It removes contaminants such as surface dirt, grease and grime as well as softens the pipe surface to allow for a fast, secure solvent weld.

The Oatey 8 oz. PVC and CPVC Purple Primer, made from a mixture of solvents, is designed to remove surface dirt, oils and other contaminants from the surface of PVC or CPVC piping. Not recommended for use on ABS piping installations. Meets ASTM F-656 specifications.

Using purple PVC (polyvinyl chloride) primer and cement is very easy to do. PVC surfaces must be clean in order for the primer to effectively prepare the PVC pipe and fittings for cement.

Oatey® Industrial Grade Purple Primer is an NSF-listed, aggressive primer for use on commercial and large diameter thermoplastic piping systems, specifically CPVC Sch. 40 / 80. It is formulated for use on PVC and CPVC pipe and fittings in cold weather applications.
