It's CORE 2 DUO T5800 processor clocked at 2.0GHz without any iGPU. Socket PGA478 Please suggest me a best and latest processor compatible to this socket (No budget issues)

Jan 12, 2011 · thanks for the quick reply, rolli, but even on the socket 479 page, it's got core 2 duo's listed under both socket 479 & socket p. I just need someone to maybe explain the differences between the PGA478 and PPGA478..and socket P.

Jan 12, 2011 · There was another arch on PGA478, Gallatin, that was still on the 130nm process and was specifically the Extreme Editions (the 3.2GHz and 3.4GHz I listed above) as well as a 3.4GHz and 3.46Ghz version for LGA775 all which had a 2MB L3 cache unlike the standard Pentium 4 based CPUs.

Oct 3, 2011 · Mobile P4s did exist. Most used the standard desktop Socket 478 (PGA478). There were desktop P4s shoved into laptops, Mobile Pentium 4-Ms with <= 35-watt TDPs, and then Mobile P4s that were basically desktop P4s with SpeedStep enabled.

Jan 22, 2003 · I have a spare couple of p4 chips lying around and a dual core Laptop T4200 2GHZ processor im thinking of building a new machine for my other half, i know when you check its specs online it says it supports pga478 sockets only.

Feb 28, 2018 · So i have an ollldddd acer aspire 6930 with a BGA478 Intel core 2 duo T5800, and wanted to pump it up to a faster chip in the 8xxx or 9xxx, but they are PGA478 socket, are they interchangable or are they incompatable???

Jan 7, 2007 · 1) The "best" processor made for Socket 478 was the Gallatin-core P4 Extreme Edition. 2) We can't help you until you give us the specifications of your system.

Apr 13, 2020 · It's not socket P. Socket P is different. Socket P is 478MN Your Socket is 479M which as far as I can read is identical physically identical to Socket 478A with support for Penryn/Penryn-3M CPU's hence why it has a Core 2 Duo T8100 in it.
