What does PCI-E 1.1 x16 mean? - Tom's Hardware Forum
Nov 18, 2014 · it means your motherboard has a pcie slot 1.1 that runs at x16. a r7 260x is a pcie 3.0 card yes. The gt 8800 is a pcie 2.0 card yes. What you are missing is the fact that newer versions of pcie are backwards compatible. They throttle down to the slot speed you have. 3.0 should work on a 1.1 if you have the proper power supply wattage and power ...
What is a PCIE_X1_1? - Tom's Hardware Forum
Dec 21, 2013 · There are different sizes of PCIe slots, based on how many channels or "lanes" they contain. A GPU fits in to a 16 lane slot while other devices like sound cards or network cards or whatnot don't need that much bandwidth and use single-lane slots.
An PCI Express 3.0 card on a PCIe 1.1 slot - compatible?
Jun 15, 2012 · PCI Express 3.0 Base specification revision 3.0 was made available in November 2010, after multiple delays. In August 2007, PCI-SIG announced that PCI Express 3.0 would carry a bit rate of 8 gigatransfers per second (GT/s), and that it would be backwards compatible with existing PCIe implementations. there will be no measurable FPS difference ...
Difference between pcie 1.1 & 2.0 | Tom's Hardware Forum
Jan 21, 2011 · okay yes, that makes sense. so in theory two same gpu's in this case just say a 550Ti. each on a pciE x16 slot, with one being the 1.1 and one being on a 2.0, the one in the 2.0 slot would technically perform slightly better, but more then likely wouldn't be a noticeable difference in the sense of say FPS increase.
graphics card for a pcie 1.0 16x slot | Tom's Hardware Forum
Dec 5, 2014 · PCIe 2.0 x16 <- that x16 would be the length of the slot. The speed of the slot can change and is represented as x16, x8 and x4. My interpretation of what's listed on BestBuy's site is a PCIe x1 slot (length). Not a PCIe x16 slot. But, your board more than likely has a PCIe 2.0 x16 slot for GPUs. The r9 255 is probably using it.

Dec 6, 2018 · Gen1, Gen2, Gen3 refers to PCIE 1.0, 2.0 and 3.0 signalling standards. You could change setting to PCIE 3.0, but sometimes this can introduce problems (unstable gpu operation, crashes, BSODs). Try and see, if you're curious. May need to revert back.
What do the "modes" of the PCI-e specs mean? - Tom's Hardware …
May 5, 2009 · There are two parts of the PCIe slot. One is the physical size of the slot, the other is how many lanes are electrically connected to that slot. The 16x means there are 3 full size PCIe slots on that motherboard. The x16/x16/x1 means the first slot will have the full 16 lanes connected, as will the second.
