Dec 13, 2024 · The obsidian 9 and 45 suffer from baffle strike issues. It's been documented far more than any other pistol can. It sounds like the OP is aware of this. There isn't a definitive answer why, but I assume the 1/2x28 shit constantly coming loose does not help it. Green0 has said it has a tight bore for performance.

May 4, 2019 · In that case none of those dB levels are comparable at all, except Rugged 9mm on Obsidian 9 to Rugged 9mm on Obsidian 45 *maybe*. Rugged's advertised 9mm numbers for the Obsidian 9 are with Freedom Munitions Hush 165gr 9mm only, which is an underpowered 9mm loading when compared to normal subsonic ammo.

May 28, 2024 · I have an obsidian 9 and a sbr PCC I want to mount. It will probably live on the PCC, though I might try it out on a pistol from time to time. I'm not really interested in the tri-lug mounts and don't think Rugged dual taper mount would work as the threads sit just in front of the rails, be a pain to lock the collar.

My guess is that there is too much muzzle pressure for using supersonic 5.56 through an Obsidian 9, since there might not be enough of an opening around the projectile to dissipate the gas pressure.

If you have an actual machinegun, or want a few extra cleaning methods, or if you want it to have a small configuration option, then the Obsidian 9.

Dec 23, 2024 · Got to try out the Dead Air Mojave 9 this morning. Compared back to back with: SiCo Osprey 45, SiCo Omega 9k, Rugged Obsidian 9. The 2 SiCo's have been my go to cans for a while and they are still excellent IMO. Used Federal 147gr for comparison. The Mojave is the lightest of the bunch.
