The mission of the State Board of Behavioral Health Licensure is to protect the public by promoting and enforcing laws and regulations which govern the practice of Licensed Professional Counselors (LPC), Licensed Marital and Family Therapists (LMFT), and Licensed Behavioral Practitioners (LBP).

Jan 9, 2024 · In general, in order to meet the qualifying degree requirements for Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) you must be able to demonstrate that you have earned a Board approved sixty (60) semester credit hour or ninety (90) quarter credit hour graduate degree in counseling, including internship, from a regionally accredited college or university.

The National Counselor Examination (NCE) is a 200-item multiple-choice examination designed to assess knowledge, skills and abilities determined to be important for providing effective counseling services. The NCE is a requirement for counselor licensure in many states.

Oklahoma uses the National Counselor Exam (NCE) for counselor licensure. Candidates for licensure must also complete the Oklahoma Legal & Ethical Responsibilities Exam.
