Apr 10, 2013 · Sometimes cats will get constipated for different reasons. A change in diet or something in the diet, not enough water, stress or sometimes as a side effect of some medications. I have used Lactulose on my male cat, Max, for constipation, with good results. That said, I would also not recommend using both lactulose and miralax at the same time.

Jul 12, 2008 · Just search "Miralax for cats" on whatever search engine you use and you'll find plenty of info on it. Anyway, our Vet suggested we start at 1/4 teaspoon twice a day and see how it worked. If he still showed signs of straining, to adjust upwards until we had the right "mix".

May 26, 2019 · Cats aren't so easy to make those changes to. The one of mine who gets it daily now eats a raw diet, so who would imagine he would have chronic constipation since he is eating a VERY appropriate diet for a cat. But he does, so the miralax really help him. And his health is excellent other than chronic constipation if no miralax intervention.

Apr 7, 2014 · Rather than feeding eggshells, I recommend feeding small amounts of edible bone, smashed with a hammer, if necessary, to accommodate his dental condition. That's what I do for my cats who can't or won't chew bones. I feed each cat 1/5-1/4 of a chicken neck daily, depending on the size of the neck. Half of my cats chew their neck piece.

Oct 17, 2012 · One of my senior cats, Boo, is on Miralax for chronic constipation. Vet said to use 1/4 tsp to start, but that was too much and gave him diarrhea. I reduced to 1/8 and that worked for awhile. Unfortunately, his body is getting accustomed to the Miralax and I had to up it back to 1/4. 1/4 is now no longer working.

Oct 29, 2022 · I give my cats about a teaspoon of butter. it works very good to keep things going, and has almost nonexistent lactose. When my older cat was constipated I gave Miralax 1/4 tsp twice daily (it only took one day) mixed in Delectable Lickables in the stew flavors. I mix all their meds in that. I keep it around all the time in case one stops eating.

Dec 5, 2018 · Before the Miralax I had her on Lactulose which worked but she started vomiting that up. I also tried psycillium fiber which didn't work that well. She's acting like she feels fine. Her stool was a normal shape but it was black and so was one a few days ago. I have to catch her in the act because I have 2 cats that use the same litter box.

Feb 5, 2024 · Most cats that are constipated have some degree of dehydration going on. So, it is important they stay hydrated. I would stop any dry food since he likes the canned. I have seen cats start to depend on miralax before, which is why I say to contact your vet. It also sounds like he is still somewhat constipated.

Jul 4, 2018 · I haven't tried pumpkin, but Tommy has been on Lactulose and is on Miralax. If your cat responds to Miralax, you really should just avoid lactulose because they HATE the flavor.
