    Male anole lizards:
    • Are bigger than female lizards when they are fully mature.
    • Have longer snouts.
    • Are green all over, except that the males have a flap under their throat which turns into a fiery red color during territorial displays or when courting a female for mating.
    • Have a dewlap, which is a piece of erectile tissue on the neck, which can be collapsed and extended into a semi-oval shape. The dewlaps of the male can be almost any color, and usually, the color differs greatly from the lizard’s body.
    • Are territorial and defend their territory from other males (and sometimes females). When two males are within distance, they may fight each other. But usually, one male will run off the other. They’ll do push-ups, bob their heads, show off their dewlaps, and sometimes show black spots around their eyes.
