Set in the 24th century, the series follows the adventures of the crew of the space station Deep Space Nine near the planet Bajor, as the Bajorans recover from a brutal, decades-long occupation by the imperialistic Cardassians.

Furel and Lupaza, two more former comrades, come to Deep Space Nine, offering to hunt down the assassin for Kira. She prefers to handle her problem within the boundaries of the law, but allows Furel and Lupaza to stay with her in the O'Briens' quarters.

Lupaza was a Bajoran woman who lived during the 24th century. Lupaza was a member of the Shakaar resistance cell during the Cardassian Occupation of Bajor. Lupaza was romantically involved with Furel and was good friends with Kira Nerys and Shakaar Edon.

However, she finds her former Resistance colleagues Lupaza and Furel, who had broken into the O'Brien's quarters. They pledge to support her and hunt down the person responsible for the deaths of their friends. Kira tries to convince them to leave it to the authorities, but neither is happy with that solution.
