The Lumbee Tribe is the largest tribe in North Carolina, the largest tribe east of the Mississippi River and the ninth largest in the nation. The Lumbee take their name from the Lumbee River which winds its way through Robeson County.

Our Lumbee Tribal Territory is located in Southeastern North Carolina in Robeson, Hoke, Cumberland, and Scotland Counties. The Lumbee People are known for their entrepreneurial spirit and their focus on education.

The Lumbee Tribal Council is comprised of 21 members elected from 21 districts. Members of the Tribal Council shall serve three year terms. If you have questions or concerns you can email your representative by clicking on thier name.

Jan 23, 2025 · President Trump is the first President to sign such a memorandum declaring full federal recognition for the Lumbee Tribe as official policy of the U.S. government and to lay the groundwork for what the Lumbee have been fighting toward for more than 100 years.

The Lumbee Member Portal empowers tribal members to stay engaged and connected. Members will be able to apply for services, check the status of their application, and more. The portal will continuously update to better serve Lumbee tribal members.

On April 28, 2025, the Lumbee Tribe of North Carolina will honor all Lumbee High School and College Students, who are potential 2025 graduates in the Lumbee Cords of Honor Ceremony. Applications are now being accepted for graduates to apply.
