The manor of Hales, called Loddon-Hales, extended into this town, which belonged to the Bigots Earls of Norfolk. In Hales-hall lived Sir James Hobart, the attorney-general to Henry VII. and his descendants; which hall was, it seems, in this parish of Loddon. See in Hales, in Clavering hundred.
