Wildlife is under threat in Cameroon. For 30 years, the Limbe Wildlife Centre has been working to protect it. Through wildlife rescue and rehabilitation, educational initiatives and community programmes, we are working to conserve Cameroon’s unique wildlife heritage.

We provide a unique opportunity for the public and volunteers to visit the Limbe Wildlife Centre and learn about Cameroon’s unique wildlife.

Today the Limbe Wildlife Center is home to 15 primate species native to Cameroon, including gorillas, chimpanzees, drills, mandrills, baboons, 3 mangabey species, and 7 guenon species. With 16 gorillas, including the only known Cross River gorilla in captivity, LWC has Africa’s best record for gorilla rehabilitation and care.

The Limbe Wildlife Centre (LWC) is a wildlife rescue, rehabilitation and conservation education project in Cameroon. It was founded 1993 and is managed by the Ministry of Forestry and Wildlife (MINFOF) and the Pandrillus Foundation.

In short, the old zoo had beautiful grounds, full-time water and electricity, and loads of potential. Furthermore, Limbe was a popular town and weekend destination for Cameroonians. Finally, here was the rescue centre that was so desperately needed!
