The London, Midland and Scottish Railway (LMS) Ivatt Class 2 2-6-2T is a class of light 'mixed-traffic' steam locomotive introduced in 1946. The LMS had various elderly tank engines and the operating department required a new small class 2 locomotive to replace them.

The London, Midland and Scottish Railway (LMS) Ivatt Class 2 2-6-0 is a class of steam locomotive designed for light mixed traffic. Elderly 0-6-0s formed the backbone of the low-powered locomotives within the LMS fleet.

The design was later adopted as a BR standard design appearing as the 2MT 78000 class in 1952 whilst members of the 46400 class was still being built. Most of the class was based on the London Midland Region but some were based on the Western, Eastern, North Eastern and Scottish Regions.

The British Railways standard class 2 2-6-2T is a scrapped class of steam locomotive, one of the standard classes of the 1950s. The class was designed at Derby Works and introduced in 1953. The design derived from the LMS Ivatt Class 2 2-6-2T which BR had built after nationalisation.
