The 8.8 cm KwK 43 (Kampfwagenkanone —"fighting vehicle cannon") was an 88 mm 71-calibre-length tank gun designed by Krupp and used by the German Wehrmacht during the Second World War. It was mounted as the primary armament on the Panzerkampfwagen VI Ausf. B Tiger II.

The Pak 43 was the most powerful anti-tank gun of the Wehrmacht to see service in significant numbers, also serving in modified form as the 8.8 cm KwK 43 main gun on the Tiger II tank, the open-top Nashorn and fully enclosed, casemate-hulled Elefant and Jagdpanther tank destroyers.

Jul 28, 2013 · I have written previously on the precision of various tank guns, and the "long 88" 88L/71 KwK 43 showed up in those comparisons. Sadly, the only data I had was the percentage chance to hit a target of a certain size, which, while allowing for a crude comparison, didn't give me the numbers I needed.

The 8.8 cm KwK 43 L71 or (8.8 cm Kampfwagenkanone 43 L71) was known under a number of names 8.8 cm PaK 43 L71 (8.8 cm Panzerabwehrkanone 43 L71), 8.8 cm StuK 43 (8.8 cm Sturmkanone 43 L71) was the main armamemet for Tiger II Ausf.

Nov 23, 2022 · At 50 degrees, this shell penetrates 180 mm of armour compared to the 88's 150. Unfortunately the graph for the Pak 43 does not show penetration at 30 degrees at point blank range, but extrapolation shows that it penetrated less than 200 mm of armour while the D-10 would penetrate slightly more.
