Oct 12, 2010 · But my one and only set of KLH 17's remain. I have them paired with a set of Model 30's, and it's a perfect match. EPI's are very good speakers, and you certainly won't go wrong with them. I just happen to like the KLH sound better. BTW, the Model 17 has 10-inch woofers, so your EPI's won't fit unless you modify the cutouts.

Jun 3, 2011 · Somewhat later I discovered she had brought me a pair of KLH Model 17s in very good condition. The price tags read, $1.99 on each speaker. One of the grille cloths was frayed in a small spot but they had no serious cabinet damage.

I had an orphan Model Five once and that speaker sounds much better than the Seventeen or the Six in my opinion but the Fives are more expensive and hard to come by. Right now I am only going to take home the Model Twenty-three or the Model Five if I run across a pair.

Dec 26, 2013 · KLH Monitor 102 were one of the speakers I used to have in the 70's. I knew someone who had the 17's too. I would pull the grills off and check the woofers out and see how they play. Sonic wise they are going to be similar to the acoustic suspension designs of the time by AR, KLH and Advent.

Feb 22, 2019 · KLH Model 17's weren't very expensive and were not considered "high end" back in the 1970's. That said, Henry Kloss always delivered a product that sounded a great deal better than the price, and that holds true for the Model 17 speaker.

Feb 22, 2021 · The KLH 20 (and 8 ohm KLH 17) is a fine speaker. I have two pairs of 20s (to go with my two KLH model 20 turntable/receiver systems I need to fix up) as well as a pair of KLH 6, 23 and 22. I love the buttery KLH sound! For the 20s at a minimum you'd need to replace the capacitors as other posters have said.

May 20, 2009 · It looks like I may be able to pick up either a pair of KLH Model 6 (C$125) or Model 17 (C$100) speakers. I've read Model 6 is unrivalled and is a classic, whereas Model 17 is considered to be of best value, and a minor step down from Model 6.

Jan 15, 2009 · The 23 is the one to keep, it was KLH's best two way loudspeaker at $160. each....the 17's were $140. for a pair. the 23 does have the big woofer; as the model 5 & 12. I have four 23's powered by my Dynaco 4 dimensional amp...fills my 800 sq. ft. basement.
