Apr 27, 2017 · On the other hand, a primary alcohol (such as 1-butanol) will be readily oxidized, even under mild conditions and with reagents much gentler than $\ce{K2Cr2O7}$. With heating and sufficiently acidic conditions, a tertiary alcohol can be eliminated to form an alkene, which can then be oxidatively cleaved to yield two molecules with carbonyl groups.
Why is there a difference in the colours of K₂Cr₂O₇ and K₂CrO₄?
Apr 14, 2015 · $\ce{K2Cr2O7}$ is red-yellow and $\ce{K2CrO4}$ is bright yellow. I am leaning towards the fact that due to the increased amount of bond pairs in $\ce{K2Cr2O7}$ it becomes harder to remove the d orbital electron and that causes the light emitted to be of a higher wavelength (lower frequency) and that's why there is colour difference.
K2Cr2O7 + H2C2O4 2H2O --> K[Cr(C2O4)2 (H2O)2]2H2O - Chegg
1. Calibration curve The following standard solutions will be provided: 0.010, 0.020, 0.030, 0.040 and 0.050 M Cr(NO3)3.
How to calculate the concentration of a K₂Cr₂O₇ solution?
How many ml of acidified $\ce{K2Cr2O7}$ solution, which includes 21.6 g of dichromate ions per Litre, are required for the oxidation of 44.4 g of $\ce{CH3CH2CH(OH)CH3}$? Obviously 44.4 g of $\ce{CH3CH2CH(OH)CH3}$ means 0.6 moles. So from the stoichiometry of the the oxidation we find out that 0.2 moles of $\ce{K2Cr2O7}$ are needed.
