HOw to set up disks in JBOD | TrueNAS Community
Feb 1, 2023 · If you can clarify what you mean by JBOD, that would be helpful. In some instances, JBOD implies the use of an external disk tray without any RAID controller, (so the disks appear as "Just a Bunch Of Disks"). Generally TrueNAS attempts to push the user into well supported choices, (aka pools with redundancy).

Mar 14, 2016 · I figure a JBOD you never want off. If you need it off, unplug it. It needs to be powered before the host usually to get the drives initialized, although without an expander that is likely less important. If the fans can run at 100% all the time, I'd personally skip the JBOD board, as I don't think it adds anything.

Dec 26, 2018 · No thought given to that IPMI card because its $120 more and I dont see myself needing IPMI for a JBOD box. I almost didn't even use a power board at all and was just going to hotwire the PSU but then I realized my PSU doesnt have a power button so I didn't want to have to unplug it to turn it off.

Jan 19, 2015 · Generally we wouldn't refer to jbod in this context. You don't really need zfs as you aren't trying to add any sort of protection to your data. But with 9.3 you don't have a choice. I won't tell you to use another os... but I would in this scenario. (xpenology, linux, even windows) So you have two choices: 1. Create a pool for each drive.
JBOD adventures with Dell PERC H710P Mini (LSI 2208)
Sep 29, 2018 · Hi all, I've recently gotten hold of a Dell PowerEdge R720 with a PERC H710P Mini controller. Wanting to try out ZFS I had hoped to make the individual drives available to the host (as JBOD/passthrough drives) but sadly the Dell firmware does not support JBOD for this controller. Other cards...

Mar 14, 2016 · The 9285cv-8e runs a xyratex box with 12x 2tb sas drives in JBOD that are all in storage pool. All drives show as normal drives in computer management. I've got another homemade JBOD that is currently powered off, but shows the same way except the enclosure is a Intel RES2V0240 or whatever the expander is.
EU - WTB: 60+ bay JBOD - ServeTheHome Forums
Nov 17, 2014 · The JBOD would be used for backup, so don't require alot of performance, so SAS2 would work - as long as it supports a bunch of random SATA 8+TB drives. I'm limited to 4U in my current rack (Netshelter CX 18U) as well as around 34" for max length - guessing this limits my options for anything larger than 60 drives.
