Select the Fonts button in the Preferences tool to open the Fonts specific preferences. Choose a Context where you would like to set your font preferences, then change the Text Settings for that context.

To edit text in the layout, double click the text box to put it into edit mode. The background color of the box will change to indicate that it is editable. Font family, size, color, and style can be changed with the Text band.

Choose the text placement from the list on the left, then set the font, size, color and so forth on the right. Or, choose the settings for one area, then click the Set All button to have the same attributes applied everywhere.
