Jul 26, 2010 · MR556 and MR556A1 are built in America and chambered for the 5.56 NATO. The MR556A1 is new and allows users to mount the A1 upper to standard AR lowers correct? The MR223 on the other hand is made in Germany and is NOT compatible with AR lowers but is actually also chambered for the 5.56 NATO.

Apr 24, 2013 · Of course making good CHF barrel is as much knowledge and experience as making good "classic" barrel. HK, Steyr or Sako have it. Going back to HK, MR223 (uses same barrel as MR556A1) is sub-MOA @100m, with 1-4x scope, rested on sandbag (no rear support) with Hornady Match 75gr HPBT.

From what I understand, I will need to purchase the following items or services: Buy a new barrel or find a gunsmith who will chop my current barrel; Buy a new handguard; Buy a shortened gas block; My questions are below.
