I'm the proud owner of a Red GLI (GTI clone) with the DSG transmission. I love everything about this car including the power, the looks, the turbo, the color, the seats, the suspension, the steering wheel, the leather, the satelite radio, the 17" wheels and of course the DSG with paddles.

Although VW's DSG dual-clutch automated manual is a good, reasonably sporty automatic, it is still an automatic. With it, our long-term GTI just feels like a slightly faster Golf with a significantly worse ride.

That is a complete aberration. I drive my GTI hard at 4-5000 rpm every day. I get 25-26 mpg with manual transmission mixed city and highway. EPA figures are 32 highway and 24 city. The FSI technology used in the GTI makes for the most fuel efficient engines in present time. It is the most fuel efficient car in its segment

As far as reliability goes, a co-worker of mine bought a new GTI and his MFD (Multi-Function Display) failed the first week, so his dealer replaced the whole dash. Being a Honda owner, I should've been able to laugh at him. But unfortunately, I found out the same week that I had a defective rear shock on my Si sedan and had to have it replaced.

Mar 3, 2025 · Right now, the only other vehicle I'd get is a Mini Cooper, which ever size drove the best. But in reality, think getting a GTI would make the most sense. As we have decided to put moving back on the table, makes even more sense to go with the GTI as we'd be somewhere between Orlando & St. Augustine depending on when we do start looking.

Feb 26, 2025 · No, I plan to just wait it out for the new GTI's to debut & go give one a test drive. And we'll go from there. Been keeping mileage records since 12/3/19 when I started my gig at Enterprise and I'm averaging maybe 1K miles every 3.5 months, give or take. Drive under 10 miles round trip to work and on my n/s days like today, maybe go 5 or so.
