May 4, 2010 · 7025 was the designation used for a heavy duty version of the 12AX7. Some people refer to this as "military grade" which is a misnomer -- because for the most part, the US military specified heavy duty tubes. Today, manufacturers are essentially using these three designations interchangeably.
