Plymouth and Dodge cars soldiered on until 1959 with the same 230 cid versions. Most Dodge trucks dropped the flathead six after 1960, when it displaced 230 cubic inches.

The electronics will be tricky, as the engine computer must talk to the body control module, etc,etc. --- 12v system to 6v gages. ---- evap system ---- and so on. Have you checked if an early Dodge truck engine with more cubes would bolt in?

The NHRA drag engines could use roller cams and multiple carburetion intake manifolds depending on the class. Headers were chosen depending on the type of racing we were doing and the engine speed at which we were running.

Mar 9, 2022 · Be interesting to know if it was a 23" head or a 25" head. Chrysler industrial flat head six smells like a 25" head. I know the history of the 23" head. The length of the cylinder head. They did change the bell housing in 1935. They moved the position of the starter.

Mar 1, 2021 · I have a 1951 Nash Statesman with the Nash Six 184 flathead. Facing engine from front left side has compartment on side of engine that had 3 bolts holding cover in place. under plate are 2 gears that the shaft of one obviously runs off cam shaft. Do these gears have anything to do with the distributor and the timing? Thanks for any info.
