Aura of Annihilation functions through walls. That's pretty fun to do. Especially in a really dark area - Bodaks have a solid +6 to stealth (and even races with darkvision make perception checks with disadvantage in total darkness), so it can slink around with the party taking 5 damage per round from an unknown source.

Nov 5, 2023 · Yeah, I think you're giving too much credit to the Death Gaze. Your level 6 martial classes can probably even afford the disadvantage on attack rolls to avert their eyes. As said above, 58 hp is almost comically low for a CR 6 monster - so I give the Bodak 2-3 rounds against a decent party unless there are other monsters kicking around.

Oct 22, 2018 · the PCs had a few run-ins with the Bodak, which were made much more frightening because most of the group never saw the monster directly--the only 2 PCs that did both failed their saves and were knocked unconscious while the Bodak escaped. the PCs were on edge the entire time, knowing something was stalking them in the dark but they never got a ...

May 28, 2019 · Not the bodak specifically but he was a gift to the boy from a coven of hags. They had twisted and weaponised the boys grief to spread more ill-will within the town as they took positions in the main temple, the school and hospital as a means of getting close to the action and bring as many people in to their corruption as possible.
Failing a Bodak's Death Gaze also means Failing One Death
Failing a Bodak's Death Gaze also means Failing One Death Saving Throw? So I am about to throw a bodak at my party of 5 level 9s. And I am fully aware of the Death Gaze ability, which says that at the start of their turn, the player must make a DC 13 Constitution saving throw or take 3d10 psychic damage.
