Contract DA-11-199-AMC-508, which was awarded on 4 November 1963, had its initial delivery in March 1964 and its final delivery in September 1966. In my estimation the most important was the cleaning items as a major reliability issue developed from the lack of AR15 cleaning/maintenance/training for the harsh tropical climate of Vietnam.

I did spray the lower with Norrell's Colt grayish black flat (the Brownells blemished lower was a lighter gray), but the upper and the charging handle is original Colt finish. She shoots real good with PMC M193 ball

All the bayonets we have for sale were made by Colt Manufacturing Company, Hartford, Connecticut. These have the Colt "Rampant Mustang" logo and part number on the blade.
