Jan 10, 2024 · The Clupea 2( Clupea) Boeing built the Clupea in 1930, designed by Robert Allan. 1930-1959 she was owned by the Government of Canada as a Fisheries Vessel. In 1959 she was decommissioned the sold at auction. Doc Freeman of Seattle bought Clupea from the action. He owned the Fremont Boat Co and her conversion from workboat to pleasure craft began.

Clupea is genus of planktivorous bony fish belonging to the family Clupeidae, commonly known as herrings. The shipwrights at Boeing selected straight grained Douglas Fir for her hull & deck planking. Research was conducted and they found the densest wood on the slopes of Washington’s Mount St. Helens. Strong White Oak was used for her frames.
