Jul 1, 2007 · My Avalanche does the exact same thing just not as often. The problem could be the relay but I think it has more to do with the signal from the on board computer causing the relay to react. I have noticed that all three vehicles have several grounding problems which could be the cause of a lot of the computers miss info to the different components.

My Chevrolet Avalanche did same thing on 10/2/12. I was driving down the road and the motor started knocking like a jack hammer was inside of it. All the lights came on which were engine light,traction control, stability control and something else which i cant remember. The truck lost all power and i thought it blew up.

In another forum, it has been reported in tech bulletins (TSBs) from GM that the Avalanche CD player cannot handle more that 192 total tunes in any one loading of CDs. It is not clear whether that means 192 tunes on a single CD player or 192 tunes on a multi-disk player.
