CPU package temp is much higher than cpu core temp
Apr 20, 2022 · Hello, So yesterday my cpu throttled pretty badly, maximum 7% cpu usage and i cant seem to use it, so i turned it off. This morning i turned on my pc and its not throttling that much so i can use it to post this thread here. The cpu package temp very high 96c~100c, but the cpu core is pretty cool...
CPU temp sensors explanation | HWiNFO® Forum
Mar 17, 2019 · -CPU Package: Shown on Intel CPUs represents a 256-millisecond average value (calculated by CPU) of the hottest temperature sensor within the CPU package.-CPU Package (TSI): Available on pre-Zen AMD CPUs is the CPU temperature obtained via TSI interface.-Core #n (n=any number): Actual temperature of a particular CPU core.
Core Max Vs. CPU Package Temps | HWiNFO® Forum
Jul 27, 2015 · The first thing I noticed was that with my old 2500K my CPU Package temperature and Core Max were almost always within a degree with each other. When I upgraded to a 5820K with the ASUS X99-A motherboard, I noticed that at idle the CPU Package temperature was 10-15 degrees higher than the core temperatures and was around 5C hotter during stress ...
CPU Package ? | HWiNFO® Forum
Jun 23, 2016 · "CPU Package" is a 256 ms average of the hottest sensor in the CPU - so the max among all IA Cores, iGPU, Uncore, etc. Tcase_max is a different value - that's the highest temperature measured on top of the IHS.
Cpu temp and Package temp - CPUs, Motherboards, and Memory
Jun 16, 2020 · The CPU Temperature (top) is the temperature of the CPU as detected by the sensor on the motherboard. The package temperature is the temperature as read from the sensor inside the CPU. Generally the package temperature sensor is higher than the motherboard CPU sensor due to proximity to the source of heat.
No "CPU Package" temp | HWiNFO® Forum
Sep 13, 2022 · If you noticed what I said on post #5, the ASUS "CPU package" temp is equal to HWiNFO's "CPU (Tctl/Tdie)" temp which is in fact like a hot spot temp in the entire CPU package. Always reporting the highest temp in the CPU wherever that may be. During gaming or single threaded apps/tasks the boost is way higher than the all core threaded boost.
CPU Package / CPU Core Power | HWiNFO® Forum
Nov 8, 2021 · So VDDCR_CPU + VDDCR_SOC + (additional rest-of-chip power that can't be measured) should equal the total CPU Package Power. The fact that CPU Core Power (SVI2 TFN) reported is so high (even higher than CPU Package Power) means, there's some glitch in the measurement. It's most probably an occasional invalid measurement during a transient state ...
Does CPU Throttling Cause CPU Package Power to Drop?
Dec 19, 2024 · I’ve been monitoring my system and noticed some interesting behavior related to CPU throttling. When my CPU starts throttling (due to either thermal or power limits), I see a noticeable drop in the reported CPU package power and clock speed reduced from 5GHZ to 3.9GHZ or more low over time during cinebench multicore test. This got me wondering:
Pretty significant difference in power readings (Package Power
Sep 9, 2024 · When iddle, VR VCC is constantly much higher than CPU Package Power. I attach a debug file in this situation. I had to compress it, as there's a size limit in the server for upload (it was originally around 6 M). If readings were correct, it is like there were a multiplier in the power requested by CPU rails as long as it does not reach PL1.
Confused by Package/Ring Throttling and Power Limit readings
Aug 31, 2020 · I was a little surprised to see a max CPU core temp of 94 degrees, but the average temp was 84, so I assumed it was a brief spike. Then I noticed two red readings in the sensor status window that I just can't explain. Both the Package/Ring Thermal Throttling and Package/Ring Power Limit Exceeded readings said "Yes."
