-The Ashina domain is actually inspired by the Ashina clan (蘆名氏) in history and the Ashihara no Nakatsukuni (葦原中国) which is the word for Japan in Japanese mythology, which explains why there are mythology elements in game. -The rebellion of taking back the domain does exist in Ashina clan's history.

Actually, Ashina was already the name of the People and the land in that region and They were under subjugation by other clans like the takamine clan. Isshin simply rallied these people to reclaim said ashina land during the chaos of the sengoku and proclaimed the clan as the ashina clan after the land itself.

May 22, 2022 · I have the two items, but there was no invasion. I am pretty sure first invasion is supposed to lock out the Ashina Castle idols and they were not "locked until visited" (on ng+). Exhausted Kuro and Emma dialogs. Will try talking to Isshin tomorrow and if that does not work, I will get the blade. Edit: mortal blade is required.

And if my assumptions from what the Wikipedia entry says is correct, then that would put the events of Sekiro somewhere along Japan's central eastern coast. Then again, I'm not too well-versed in Japanese history, so I could very well be wrong.

The Sengoku period ended with the forced reunification of Japan under the central government that eventually became the Tokugawa shogunate, represented in game by the Interior Ministry.

Dec 15, 2023 · Ashina is a small independent clan that broke free of the ministry’s control when Ishin led a revolt. And as an independent territory they have little in the way of wealth (hence why Ashina troop armour looks so shoddy on the soldiers.

Isshin reclaimed the land and held it for 20 years, now the Ministry seeks to reclaim Ashina as there own with only Genichiro and his forces attempting to save it. But, why exactly do you WANT to save Ashina.
